Speed Sensorless Field-Oriented Control of Induction Machines Using a Real Time Neo-Fuzzy-Neuron Algorithm

This paper presents a new algorithm for speed observation of three-phase induction machines, based on a Neo-Fuzzy-Neuron (NFN) algorithm with real time training, which does not require previous training. The main characteristics of this novel observer are: the quick convergence, the good performance at wide speed range, and the robustness to load and some parametric variations. This observer requires stator current, stator voltage, electromagnetic torque and rotor flux vector as inputs. Simulation and experimental results (achieving zero speed and 5 rad/s, respectively) are presented in order to document the good performance of the observer.
